In addition to pursuing the three-peat dream, KC has tried something different by using the excitement surrounding the team.
The Chiefs and the Hallmark Channel are working together to make a holiday film.
The movie, titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” will premiere at the 15th annual Countdown to Christmas event in December, though a
specific release date has not yet been set.
Contrary to what the title implies, this isn’t truly about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s romance. Still, one of her songs might have been the source of
the term “love story.”
Reframing Christmas Day after last year
Christmas Day 2023 saw Kansas City play its final regular season game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The score was 14–20 for KC. Many players on the team felt that the loss was the necessary wake-up call that they would not be able to face anything
similar in the playoffs.
The team will play on December 25 this year, but it will be against the Pittsburgh Steelers this time.
We may say that the movie aims to attempt and give the date a another meaning.
In July, production got underway in Kansas City, Missouri. A portion of the shots will even be shot at
The movie’s storyline
The cast of the show will include Ed Begley Jr., Tyler Hynes, and Hunter King.
To offer fans a taste of what to expect from the feature film, Hallmark has written a synopsis.
“Alana Higman (Hunter King) in Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is certain that her family is a strong contender to win the team’s “Fan of
the Year” award because of their longstanding tradition as ardent Kansas City Chiefs supporters. Director of Fan Engagement Derrick (Tyler Hynes)
is entrusted with assessing Alana and her family’s comparative advantage over the other two finalists.
While they spend time together, it’s obvious that there is chemistry between them, but Alana starts to worry when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.)
vintage Chiefs good luck winter hat disappears.
her future with Derrick and everything she held dear about fate and destiny—unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.
However, there’s a surprise. The film will feature a few Chiefs players.
The artwork will include the following players: right guard Trey Smith, wide receiver Mecole Hardman, defensive end George Karlaftis, running back
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and head coach Andy Reid.
In the game and on TV, 2024 will go down in history as the year of the Kansas City Chiefs.
