Deal sealed: A wide receiver has agreed to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs for one more season…

Mecole Hardman, a wide receiver, has agreed to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs for a single season.

On Thursday, sources revealed the agreement to ESPN, The Athletic, and NFL Network. Hardman was drafted by the Chiefs in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played for a portion of the previous season with the New York Jets.

In the previous off-season, Hardman inked a one-year contract with the Jets. After being traded back to the Chiefs in October, he went on to catch the touchdown pass that won the game in Super Bowl LVIII.

In 11 appearances last season, the sixth-year pass catcher totaled career-lows of 15 catches and 124 yards. During the postseason, Hardman caught five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.

In his rookie season, Hardman, 26, helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. In 2023, he brought home another championship with the team. Hardman signed a free agent contract with the Jets one month later.

During his first five seasons, Hardman also performed the duties of a punt and kick returner. Because of such efforts in 2019, he was selected to the Pro Bowl, averaging 26.1 yards per kick return, including a touchdown run of 104 yards. In 2021, he had a career-high average of 12.1 yards per punt return.

In his first 68 NFL games, Hardman caught 166 passes for 2,212 yards and 18 offensive touchdowns. During that same period, he totaled 941 kick return yards and a score in addition to 616 punt return yards.

He will join a group of wide receivers for the Chiefs that includes, among others, No. 28 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft prospect Xavier Worthy, off-season addition Marquise Brown, and Rashee Rice.

The Chiefs will be in St. Joseph, Missouri, for an obligatory minicamp from Tuesday through June 13.
