Many were curious as to whether Chris Jones, the All-Pro defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, received a veteran rest day on Sunday, 28 July, which would account for his absence from training camp drills. However, it turns out that Jones was sidelined on Sunday due to a groin issue that he sustained during Saturday’s practice, per Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.
“We’ll observe. Although I am aware that he was playing pranks on you, he does have a groin. We all have sore groins, but Jones’ is really bad’, Reid remarked of Jones following practice on Sunday.
In other injury news, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown missed practice on Sunday due to illness, while second-year cornerback Nazeeh Johnson missed it because of a sore knee, the same knee on which he had surgery.
Big Red didn’t seem very worried about Jones’s sore groin. Most likely, Jones is just getting more sleep to make sure he’s healthy when the regular season begins.
Reid stated that Johnson will be “fine” despite having a knee injury that ended his rookie season.
Andy Reid Was Asked by Chris Jones for Veteran Rest Days
Having played in eight NFL seasons (all with the Chiefs), Jones will not find every rep in training camp as significant as it will be for the younger players who are still attempting to establish their careers. For this reason, Jones requested several veteran leisure days from Big Red this summer as he prepares for his 30-year-old season.
“Hey, guy, I’ve already discussed with Andy the possibility of skipping training camp. I believe I am a little older. According to The Kansas City Star, Jones stated on June 26 during his youth football camp at Blue Valley Southwest High School in Overland Park. “I sense it,”When we have a day at training camp, I feel it. Then, give me one day off and two days on, and perhaps we can figure something out.
Jones added that Reid’s head coach “just looked at me” when he mentioned his request to Reid.
The All-Pro defence offered a possible summertime timetable for him as well.
Jones declared, “I can do it if I’m able to do a day on, a day off, or a day on and a half (off). “It seems like a lot of fun,”
Given Jones’s injuries on Saturday, Reid may be giving Jones’s persistent plea some serious thought.
