Valentine Holmes’ hip-drop tackle in round 12 resulted in an ankle injury that will keep Wests Tigers star Isaiah Papali’i out of action for the next two months.
During the nasty moment during the Townsville encounter, the Cowboys center fell on his lower leg, forcing the back-rower to leave the field.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Papali’i may miss up to ten weeks of action after undergoing tightrope surgery to fix the damage.
After receiving an early release from his contract to join the Penrith Panthers, Papali’i is scheduled to leave Concord at the end of the current campaign.
With English forward John Bateman out with a pectoral injury, the 25-year-old joins his teammate on the sidelines.
Due to suspension, the Tigers will also be without David Klemmer and Aidan Sezer; as a result, they will have a bye in round 13.
After losing their last eight games straight, Benji Marshall’s team will play the Dragons in their upcoming encounter.
