Kansas City Chiefs getting ready to mess with every NFL team in 2024
As far as being relaxed and loose, it doesn’t get much more relaxed or loose than the Kansas City Chiefs
right now. The Chiefs are in the midst of training camp, preparing to defend their title as back-to-back
Super Bowl Champions. They are hoping to become the first team in NFL history to complete a three-
peat, and you’ve got to think they feel good about their chances.
Especially when you see them running plays like this in practice:
Playcalling has always been Andy Reid’s forte, and he currently has the tools on his squad to run plays
like this if he so chooses. Will this ever appear in a real game? Perhaps not, but this is the kind of play
that the Chiefs could use at some point in the season and have fans just shaking their heads at what
they’ve come up with.
Over the years, Kansas City has attempted a number of trick plays, but they are not always successful. To
watch practically any other NFL team genuinely practice this style of play would be absurd. This is the
kind of content saved for the closing moments of a match when you’re trailing by eight points and, with
five seconds remaining, pinned 80 yards away.
But if the Chiefs are ahead by ten points at the half, they will most likely run this kind of play in the
second quarter.
They are simply that way. All you could do is pray that this kind of tom foolery wasn’t being used to your
favorite team.
The Chiefs are clearly not uninterested or unfocused, but it’s amazing how resilient this squad is at the
moment when you see them recording plays like this for the whole world to watch in the first few days of
training camp. The Chiefs surely understand that the whole NFL community will be watching this play,
so they Teams will prepare for this variant by practicing it now, and when the season begins, they will
add a totally other variation behind closed doors.
When you consider it carefully, it’s brilliant.
Hey, you have the right to brag a little after winning the Super Bowl twice in a row.
