Done Deal! Panthers, Derrick Brown Agree to Contract Extension
At the NFL owners’ meeting in Orlando, reporters were informed by Carolina Panthers general manager Dan
Morgan that he had been in talks with Derrick Brown’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, over a contract extension. He was
optimistic that the two parties would reach an agreement, and today that was accomplished.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Brown and the Panthers have reached an agreement on a four-year, $96 million
contract, with $63.1 million guaranteed.
In 2023, Brown’s 103 tackles throughout a single season set an NFL record for defensive tackles. In addition, he had
two sacks, seven tackles for loss, six passes defensed, and fifteen quarterback hits.
Although it took him a few years to establish himself in the league, the former first-round choice is now regarded as
one of the best players at his position. The team’s decision to trade Brian Burns to New York effectively freed up
funds for Brown’s extension, keeping him in Carolina until 2028. Brown is a key component of the Panthers’
defensive line that Ejiro Evero and the organization plan to build around.
