Heartbreaking: Boston Red Sox legend involved in a car accident…

Red Sox prospect Steen recovering after crash

Prospect Kevin Steen of the Red Sox is doing well as he recovers from a fatal vehicle accident that occurred in Florida last week.
“Kevin is resting and in stable condition at local Fort Myers hospital while he recovers from multiple surgeries to his lower extremities after being involved in an accident last Wednesday night,” the Red Sox stated in a statement. “As of now, there are no additional surgeries planned and the next steps of his recovery are being discussed.”

A week ago in Lehigh Acres, Florida, Steen was engaged in a two-car collision when a motorist heading the other way lost control of their 2002 Dodge Neon and struck the prospect’s 2007 Cadillac Escalade head-on. The collision claimed the life of the other driver, who the Florida Highway Patrol has not named. Steen was in critical condition when she was taken to the hospital.
On May 1, Steen’s aunt Makysha Robinson announced on Facebook that the pitcher has had surgery on both knees and his hip: Robinson stated, “The surgery on the left knee went great this morning.” “The left knee could be fixed in a single procedure. He is now recuperating. Please keep praying!”
Steen, according to her update from Wednesday, “is progressing and preparing for rehabilitation.”
It’s just a bad circumstance. John Farrell, manager of the Red Sox, stated last week, “It’s kind of a bad place, bad time.” “He seems like a really happy, optimistic young man to me. Without a doubt, our thoughts are with him and his family.”

In an attempt to generate money for Kevin Steen and his family, Darren Fenster, manager of the Red Sox Class A affiliate in Greenville, tweeted out a fundraiser that includes T-shirts and stickers for the “Kevin Steen Fund.”
