Heartbreaking: Celtic legendary star involved in a car accident….

Celtic legend escapes ‘terrifying’ car crash after ‘sleeping driver’ ploughs into him

The 64-year-old former Hoops striker was hit by a different motorist who, according to him, had passed out behind the wheel.

His VW Touareg was written off in the collision, so he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The former Scotland player claimed that his quick “reflexes” were the only reason he survived the collision while attempting to avoid the other car.

Macca described how the August 4 incident in the Scottish Borders left him with whiplash and agony.

He revealed the following on his podcast, Let Me Be Frank: “A few weeks ago, I was in a serious vehicle accident.

“It was quite scary. The guy actually dozed off at eight in the morning. It was quarter to eight.

“Fortunately, I was able to swerve with my reflexes as he drove across.”

“He struck the front of the automobile, straight down. It had the potential to kill me, but it didn’t.

“It’s a powerful, nice automobile. I simply believe that the big man has different plans for me; it will not be simple for you to escape.”

McAvennie was on his way to play golf at West Linton with John Hartson, a friend and fellow former Celtic forward.

Thankfully, a full recovery is anticipated for the former striker.
