After a fatal vehicle accident, a former Celtic star passed away at the age of 38.
The football community has paid respect to former Celtic star Landry Nguemo after he died in a car accident in his
native Cameroon.
The 38-year-old made 43 appearances for the Hoops before the 2009–10 season, playing for both Neil Lennon and
Tony Mowbray after joining on loan from Nancy.
He was honoured to represent his country in two World Cups, the 2010 one in South Africa and the 2014 one in
Brazil, in addition to earning 41 caps for Cameroon.
Nguemo’s services to football will be honoured. From 2006 until 2014, he played a key role for both the
Cameroonian national team and Girondins de Bordeaux.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, as well as the entire football community,” FECAFOOT
added.
“The news of Landry Nguemo’s death at the young age of 38 has shocked and saddened everyone at Celtic Football
Club,” the team said in a statement. Celtic then made their own tribute.
Everyone at Celtic Football Club is praying and thinking of Landry’s family and friends during this trying time.
