Former Dodgers pitcher dies in crash at age 31
Reyes Moronta, a former pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, passed away over the weekend at the age of 31, according to several accounts.
Moronta, who pitched in 22 Dodgers games in 2022, passed away on Sunday in a car accident in his native Dominican Republic, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.
The Mexican Baseball League announced his passing on X, the previous Twitter platform.
Between 2017 and 2021, Moronta’s career reached its zenith with the San Francisco Giants. Moronta emerged as one of the Giants’ most dependable relievers over the course of the two years between 2018 and 2019.
In 2023, he pitched in two games with the Los Angeles Angels and also played for a while with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
