Slipknot Founder Dies
Grey was discovered dead at 38.
Paul Grey, 38, the bassist for Slipknot, passed away.
The founding member of the band was discovered dead in his hotel room in Des Moines, Iowa, yesterday. An
investigation will be conducted into his death even though authorities have not discovered any signs of foul play at
the location.
Due to his mask, Grey went by the nickname #2 or “The Pig.” He was one of the founding members of the band in
1995 and could be heard on all four of the group’s studio albums.
He and his wife Brenna were expecting their first child together.
Although we don’t play a lot of Slipknot here at Planet Rock, we do recognise the band’s influence on music and
culture over the past ten years, especially with regard to the heavy metal subgenre, and we think Paul Grey is
deserving of a great deal of appreciation for that.
