Slipknot’s Shawn Crahan Mourns the Death of 22-Year-Old Daughter: ‘The Deepest Pain’
The daughter of Slipknot founder Shawn Crahan passed away. Her age was 22.
Only a few days after the band’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Crahan, who frequently performs under the
stage moniker “Clown,” revealed the news on Twitter on Sunday.
“I have to tell you all that my youngest daughter, Gabrielle, passed away yesterday, Saturday, May 18, 2019, with a
broken heart and the greatest pain.” The 49-year-old artist wrote, “She was 22 years old.”
“We’ll be making funeral arrangements soon,” he said. “My family and I request that going forward, our privacy be
respected. I’m grateful. Love you so much, clown.
It was unclear right away what caused the fatality.
Along with his wife Chantel Crahan, Crahan is also the father of two sons, Simon and Gauge, and a daughter,
Alexandria.
Simon posted on Instagram on Sunday, saying, “Today is the hardest day ever. I’m confused, I’m angry, I’m sad, and
I’m just sad, really sad.” “Gabri, you are my best friend and we had a great relationship, but now that you are gone, I
miss you more than anything else. Gabri, you will always know how much I adore you.
On social media, Alexandria also shared her sister’s grief. She wrote, “My little sister Gabrielle passed away
yesterday,” as the caption for a picture of the siblings when they were younger. “I am in disbelief and don’t know how
to handle the tidal surge of emotions I’m feeling.
These days, my family, friends, and cats are my comforts.”
Alexandria went on, “Please send positive vibes out for my brothers and parents.” “Our lives will never be the same
after this loss, which leaves the deepest emptiness. It’s too young to die at 22.
In 1993, Crahan started the group that would later become Slipknot. The heavy metal group has a world tour
planned for this summer and is expected to release their sixth album later this year.
Corey Taylor, the lead singer of Slipknot, who plays with Crahan, tweeted on Sunday, saying, “My heart has broken
for my brother.” Please send love and prayers to the Crahan family. We shall miss her.
