Chiefs Now Likely to Be Without Playmaker in Week 2
The Kansas City Chiefs began the 2024 season in style. They started the season with a 1-0 record after defeating the Baltimore Ravens 27–20.
The Cincinnati Bengals will be the focus of a Week 2 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium. However, it looks like Marquise “Hollywood” Brown won’t be available for the Chiefs on Sunday.
Chiefs News: Marquise Brown is probably out for the second week.
Adam Teicher of ESPN claimed that head coach Andy Reid didn’t officially rule out Brown, but the possibilities of his suiting up are remote. Since the preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 10, Brown has been sidelined.
He was expected to recuperate from a sternoclavicular injury he sustained in that competition in four to six weeks. The Oklahoma product will probably be out for another week as a result of this, which has prevented him from returning to the pitch.
Reid seldom starts players who haven’t had a week to recover from an injury. Brown is not going to be an anomaly.
Kansas City has demonstrated that they can still be successful without having a large roster of players that make a difference, but this season will be different.
Both Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice had at least 45 receiving yards in Week 1. One of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, Travis Kelce, is also on their roster.
Brown will eventually be needed by the Chiefs, but they will manage to weather the storm. With a lifetime average of 11.6 yards per reception, he remains a potent deep threat. He’ll return to the pitch when he’s well enough, but that probably won’t be this Sunday.
