San Francisco Giants starter Blake Snell exits with injury
In the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants pitcher Blake Snell departed the field due to stiffness in his left groin.
Snell was mid-at-bat when he left the field with Giants trainer Dave Groeschner, making his way straight to the clubhouse. The veteran left the mound in agony after his final pitch, which was clocked at 97 mph.
Having signed in the summer, Snell, 31, is in his debut season with the Giants and has yet to complete five complete innings in 2024. He is still in pursuit of his first victory. He had a 10.42 ERA, 24 strikeouts, and a 0-3 record going into Sunday’s start.
In the opening two games of the series, the Yankees prevailed.
