INJURY UPDATE: Chiefs incredible player suffers terrible injury; and he won’t be playing again…

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice could be lost for season with knee injury after collision with Patrick Mahomes

Rashee Rice of Kansas City may be out for the remainder of the campaign following a strange play that left him with

a knee injury against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

After the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 17–10, Rice was wheeled to the team bus while wearing a brace that controlled his

range of motion with a dial. During an interception return, the wide receiver was struck by his own quarterback,

Patrick Mahomes, as both players were chasing Chargers CB Kristian Fulton.

Rice will receive an MRI on Monday, according to coach Andy Reid. Reid did not think the outcome was promising.

Reid remarked, “I’m sure it’s not as good of news as we want.” “I feel so bad for Rashee because this year has been

amazing for him. We’ll cross our fingers.

On the Chiefs’ second possession, Mahomes overthrew Travis Kelce at midfield, and Fulton returned the pick 29

yards. At the Chiefs 20, Rice caught Fulton off guard and punched the ball free for a turnover. However, as the

standout quarterback stooped to try to tackle Fulton, Mahomes struck Rice in the legs.

The ball was recovered by Chiefs centre Creed Humphrey, but a review of the footage showed that Rice was out of

bounds when he forced the fumble, giving the Chargers possession.

In his collision with Mahomes, Rice’s right knee seemed to hyperextend, causing damage to both of his knees.

“I felt Rashee’s play was excellent. Mahomes stated, “I was going to tackle the guy (Fulton) and obviously rolled up

on him.” “I was trying to make a tackle, so I wasn’t sure exactly what happened, but I know how tough Rashee is,” the

player said. Thus, I understood it wasn’t good that he was depressed in that way.

With 24 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns, Rice is the top receiver for the two-time defending Super Bowl

champions. Second with 15 receptions for 158 yards is Travis Kelce.

Rice was out of the lineup for the first three games, but Kelce filled in admirably. The Chiefs’ club leader in

receptions, the tight end recorded seven grabs for 89 yards, including his 917th of the season in the second quarter.

In our receiving room, Worthy remarked, “I feel like we have a lot of guys that’s able to make plays in key moments.

We really don’t know what’s going on with him.”

Rice is awaiting trial on several charges after he allegedly caused a high-speed crash involving multiple cars last

March on a freeway in Texas.
