It’s official: Derby County has signed a top player for undisclosed fee…

Derby County has signed midfielder Kenzo Goudmijn from AZ Alkmaar, completing their fourth summer signing.

In an amazing acquisition, the Rams have paid an unknown sum for the Dutchman, who has agreed to a four-year contract.

After being cheekily presented by the club at the conclusion of a film in which Derby players predicted the outcome of tonight’s match between England and the Netherlands, the 22-year-old has already forged connections with his new teammates.

Go Ahead Eagles and Groningen were also keen to sign Goudmijn, thus Derby faced fierce competition for his services.

However, Goudmijn has made the decision to continue his career in England, where he will play as a number eight or six. The midfielder will be a member of a completely revamped Derby midfield come season.

Goudmijn played in the Eredivisie for more than 70 games during his second half of the previous season while on loan at Excelsior. He made 18 appearances during that time.
