Norwich goalkeeper Gunn doubtful for Scotland squad

Angus Gunn is a doubt for Scotland’s Nations League double-header after the goalkeeper picked up a knock in Norwich City’s 4-0 win over Hull City in the Championship.

At Carrow Road, Gunn, who has become Scotland’s top scorer in the last year, sustained an injury in the latter minutes of the first half.

After the break, understudy George Long replaced him, but he did not show up.

Johannes Hoff, the head coach of Norwich, stated: “Angus was knocked in the ribs after he jumped to grab the ball. He was unable to go for the second half because of some discomfort.

“It’s too early to say if he will be able to go away with Scotland – we’ll know more once he has had a scan.”

On Saturday, Scotland travels to Croatia, and three days later, they host Portugal.

Due to injuries, head coach Steve Clarke is already down ten players and has few choices in goal.

Zander Clark was replaced on the roster by Craig Gordon, a 41-year-old who earned a regular starting spot back with Heart of Midlothian.

Jon McCracken of Dundee, who was called up for the first time in September, was still included in the most recent squad.

Robby McCrorie, one of the most recent call-ups, returned to the starting lineup against Kilmarnock on Saturday, and Liam Kelly, who joined Rangers from Motherwell, is still Jack Butland’s backup.

Ross Stewart, a striker with two caps, was substituted out of Southampton’s starting lineup after just 21 minutes, having joined from Sunderland in September.

After making his comeback from a long-term injury last month, the 28-year-old had made four substitution appearances. However, he hobbled out at the Emirates early, giving the visitors the lead before Arsenal rallied to win 3-1. Cameron Archer, the visitor’s replacement, took the lead.

Saints’ latest loss heaps more pressure on manager Russell Martin, with the former Scotland defender’s side sitting second bottom of the Premier League without a win.
