Puka Nacua carted off the field after suffering knee injury
Puka Nacua, a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, appeared to have a leg injury during his team’s Week 1 matchup with the Detroit Lions.
At Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, halfway through the second quarter, Nacua completed a 6-yard catch and landed awkwardly.
The team initially considered the Pro Bowler questionable to return because of a knee issue. Later on, during the Rams’ subsequent offensive possession, he returned to the game.
Nacua’s comeback to the field, though, was fleeting. He failed to make any catches prior to the half’s conclusion. Later, after halftime, the second-year professional was observed being wheeled off the field.
Nacua had one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory the previous season. He saw action in all 17 of the Rams’ games, accumulating 1,486 yards and six receiving touchdowns on 105 catches. Nacua led the club in all three categories last year, while All-Pro Cooper Kupp battled his own issues.
Nacua’s knee issue also kept him out of training camp for a significant portion of it. It’s still unknown if the knee problem he had last month has anything to do with his injury from Week 1.
