Leeds captain Ampadu out until 2025 with knee injury
Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu will be out until at least January having sustained a knee ligament injury in their Championship win against Coventry City.
After the Wales international, 24, was substituted in the 41st minute of the team’s 3-0 triumph over the Sky Blues on Saturday.
Ampadu was expected to play in the Nations League for Wales in their matches against Montenegro and Iceland; manager Craig Bellamy will make the team announcement on Wednesday.
“The doctors have recommended a conservative treatment so he doesn’t need surgery,” Leeds manager Daniel Farke said to BBC Radio Leeds. “It’s a serious knee injury, he has damaged his lateral ligament.”Cata
“It’s hard to say how long he will be out, but it should be about ten weeks before he can go back to team training.”
“It could be a few days more or less depending on the recovery. Currently, we anticipate that he will return to training in December, but before then, he will require some team training.
“We expect him to be back [playing] at some point in January.”
