In a deeply tragic announcement, Slipknot’s drummer Jay Weinberg is mourning the sudden loss of his father,
legendary musician Max Weinberg, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 73.
Max Weinberg, best known for his work as the drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, was a widely
respected figure in the music world. His contributions to rock and roll, and his influence on generations of
drummers, left an indelible mark on the industry.
Jay, who has played alongside Slipknot since 2014, shared an emotional statement through the band’s official
channels, expressing his sorrow and gratitude for the time he had with his father.
“My heart is broken. I’ve lost not only a father but a mentor, a friend, and a hero. The lessons he taught me — both in
music and life — will continue to guide me every day. I’m thankful for every moment we had together, and I will
carry his spirit with me always,” Jay said in a tearful message to fans.
The Slipknot family and the broader rock community have come together to support Jay during this difficult time.
The band, who is currently on tour, has announced that they will be postponing several upcoming performances to
allow Jay the time he needs to grieve with his family.
Slipknot’s lead vocalist, Corey Taylor, shared his thoughts: “Jay is like a brother to all of us, and we stand beside him
as he navigates this unimaginable loss. Max’s legacy will live on in the music, and we know Jay will continue to
honor that legacy in his own powerful way.”
Max Weinberg’s passing has brought out an outpouring of support from fans and fellow musicians alike, all paying
tribute to a man whose musical impact transcended genres. A public memorial for Max is being planned, with details
to follow.
Jay and the rest of Slipknot have asked for privacy during this incredibly difficult time, but fans have already begun
paying tribute to both Max and Jay on social media, sharing memories and messages of love.
