SEPTEMBER 18: According to RealGM’s record of formal transactions, Alston signed with the Bucks on Tuesday, a month and a half after the deal was first announced.
AUGUST 2: Sources inform Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress (Twitter link) that Philip Alston, a free agent, will sign an Exhibit 10 deal with the Bucks.
After finishing his senior season with the Ramblers with an average of 12.2 points and 4.6 rebounds, the 22-year-old forward from Loyola Chicago was not selected in the draft. After playing for three years at California, Pennsylvania, he played the last two seasons at Loyola.
Alston played in three games in Las Vegas as a member of Milwaukee’s Summer League squad, averaging 4.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. In his last game, he was given the opportunity to start and finished with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
With Andre Jackson on a partially guaranteed contract, 14 players with guaranteed contracts, and no open two-way positions, the Bucks have a nearly full roster. Although Alston’s chances of making the team in training camp are slim, the Exhibit 10 deal gives him the possibility to earn a bonus of up to $77.5K if he plays for the Bucks’ G League affiliate for at least 60 days.
