Celtic will reportedly get £6 million transfer deal done
While plenty of players have left Celtic this summer and more seem to be on their way out, the club have
not been very active when it comes to incomings. At least that is what it looks like from the outside. The
Hoops are yet to make their first signing of the window although a move for Kasper Schmeichel is
believed to be on the verge of completion. After that, they will need to turn their attention elsewhere.
Another position where one would expect Celtic to strengthen this summer is midfield. Especially
considering the constant speculation around the future of Matt O’Riley.
O’Riley has been linked with clubs like Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan, Atalanta and
several others. It feels very likely that the Danish midfielder will depart this summer for what is expected
to be a Scottish record transfer fee. This summer, a Danish midfielder is anticipated to leave for a
transfer fee that will set a new Scottish record.
However, after a strong loan stint at the team, there have been rumors that Celtic is looking to sign Paulo
Bernardo permanently. Additionally, there appears to be an update on that circumstance.
Celtic will reportedly get £6 million transfer deal done
It appears that a signing agreement for Bernardo is imminent. Keith Wyness, the previous chief of
Aberdeen, stated on the Insider Track podcast, as reported by Football Insider:
Earlier in the summer, there were rumors that signing Bernardo was becoming difficult due to his salary.
However, it appears such is not the case.
Although Bernardo did not consistently start for Celtic while on loan at Parkhead, he did exhibit a great
deal of promise. The Portuguese youth international needs to get better in a few areas, but if he can
make that next move, he will be a terrific midfield player for many years to come.
