Slipknot’s Corey Taylor says Dave Grohl having a baby outside of marriage “does not mean he’s not a nice person”
Frontman of Slipknot Corey Taylor stated that while he finds Dave Grohl’s decision to have a child outside of his
marriage to be “irresponsible,” it “does not mean he’s not a nice person.”
The Foo Fighters singer said earlier this month that he is “doing everything I can to regain the trust” of his wife
Jordyn Blum and his family despite having fathered a baby girl outside of his marriage. Violet, Harper, and Ophelia
are the three daughters he and Blum already have together.
A post suggesting that the newborn baby girl was going to be named Roxie Junie Grohl and that she was “truly a
Grohl through and through” went viral the next day. The tweet was debunked as phoney, with Grohl’s management
admitting as such to NME.
As a result of Grohl’s long-time buddy Corey Taylor’s remarks, Foo Fighters had to postpone their appearances at the
Soundside Music Festival this past weekend.
Taylor was asked to discuss his opinions on the “messy” situation during his recent appearance on the podcast Your
Mom’s House, which is hosted by comedians Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky. First, he explained that he
believed Grohl had announced the baby’s birth in order to “get ahead” of the mother revealing the information
herself.
He continued: “Obviously, it’s very irresponsible. I know there are a lot of disappointed fans out there because of the
image he’s developed. But I have to remind people that we’re not perfect. He was one of the last people to really have
that image…”
I happen to know him as a person, thus this does not imply that he is not a decent person. It indicates that he messed
up and has fucking issues. He isn’t flawless. His family is going to have a very tough time of it. I’m not going to
speculate as to how or why it occurred. I’m clean, but I’ve also had my share of personal struggles.
In closing, Corey said, “Did he do something horrible? Indeed. What the fuck are we doing, though, if it’s the only
thing that makes him unique? It is disheartening.
Grohl’s kids Violet and Harper have deleted their Instagram accounts following his announcement. The band’s 2023
song “Show Me How” from their poignant album “But Here We Are” features Violet, who rose to fame in recent years
performing with Foo Fighters with her father. The song was written in the wake of the deaths of Grohl’s mother
Virginia and the late Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins.
