SO SAD: Celtic young talented star father died in M6 horror…

Celtic fans to pay tribute to young dad killed in M6 horror with minute applause

Celtic supporters will honour a young Glasgow father who lost his life in a horrific crash on the M6 tonight (Wednesday, September 18) with a minute of applause at Celtic Park.

The pedestrian involved in the deadly crash on Saturday, September 14, at junction 42 near Carlisle on the busy motorway has been identified by Cumbria constabulary as John Burns.

The 22-year-old is believed to have taken the wrong bus after Hoops’ match against Hearts, as we previously reported. Then it is said that he was dumped off in the town prior to the untimely death.

The grieving father’s family and other supporters have honoured him by stating that “nobody should go to a football game and not return home.”

Heartbroken Hoops supporters have requested a minute of applause in his honour during tonight’s Parkhead home game against Slovan Bratislava.

It is stated that today, Wednesday, September 18, would have been John’s 23rd birthday, hence supporters are being requested to perform the touching gesture in the 23rd minute of the game.

The Parkhead Faithful, a group of supporters, stated: “On Wednesday, John Burns would have turned 23 years old. It’s the day his favourite club plays in Europe.

“On the twenty-third minute, might we ask everyone to come in and take part in a minute of applause?

“We shall fulfil the requests of the numerous fans and pages that we have observed. As a Celtic family, it would be the least we could do during this dreadful time. John, you may relax.”

Addition by Celtic Fan Group: “This is John. At the age of just 22, he recently passed away. not at all old.

“He attended Saturday’s Celtics game. Nobody should ever attend a game and then fail to return home.

“We ask that you please join in the minutes applause on the 23rd minute on Wednesday night.”

Following the collision, officers are still asking for information, and they are pleading with anyone who has information to come forward.

The force is asking anyone with a dashcam who was driving near junction 42 on September 14 between 7:50 and 8:10 p.m., either on the roundabout or bridges, or on the M6 North and South, to get in touch with police so that a police officer can look over any recorded footage of a pedestrian.
