SO SAD: Red Sox star departing due to his serious health issue…

Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen to miss series in Colorado due to health issues

Due to health concerns, Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen will not travel with the team to Colorado for its series.

Following three prior trips to Colorado, Jansen stated that physicians had to “shock his heart back into rhythm” following Sunday’s 9–6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The last time Jansen was with the Atlanta Braves was in 2022. It also occurred when he pitched for the Dodgers in 2012 and 2018.

“It happened over there too many times with me,” Jansen remarked. “It all began when I returned to Atlanta. A few weeks after I started experiencing problems, I returned to AFib. Now I’m just trying to stay clear of that.

“Our goal is to go to the postseason. That’s not a fantastic moment to go there and make mistakes, in my opinion. It will harm the team further the next thing you know.”

After returning to Boston, Jansen will be prepared for the Red Sox’s three-game series against the Yankees, which begins on Friday.

For Jansen, who was only been at Dodger Stadium twice since departing Los Angeles following the 2021 season, it was a difficult weekend.

The Dodgers won 7-6 in 11 innings on Saturday after the right-hander gave up a home run to Kiké Hernández in the ninth inning, tying the score at four.

This season, Jansen had given up just one home run.

On Sunday, even though the Red Sox were behind, Jansen entered the game in the eighth inning. Before the game, he informed manager Alex Cora that the Colorado bullpen would be shorthanded and that he would like to pitch.

Jason Heyward’s solo home run was among the three runs that Jansen ultimately gave up in the eighth inning.

Jansen, who has 18 saves and is ranked fifth in the American League, stated, “I just have to turn the page and be ready for the next series.”
