“SO SAD”: Sky Blues supporters are upset as Coventry City star will join another Championship club on loan…

Fans of the Sky Blues are disappointed to learn that Callum Doyle, a former loan star for Coventry City, will be joining another Championship team on loan for the upcoming season.

It’s known that Mark Robins is looking for a new defender, and many had thought the team would make another run at the Manchester City prospect who had a fantastic season at the CBS Arena in 2022–2023. He was sent to Leicester last season, when he linked up with former Man City boss Enzo Maresca at the King Power Stadium and helped the Foxes win promotion back to the Premier League, despite Coventry’s reluctance to give him a second term.

Now, though, the center-half for the England Under-21 national team is leaving on another loan, this time to Norwich City, a rival team in the Championship. Although a contract has not yet been signed, the BBC claims that all sides are confident that Carrow Road is the best place for the defender to spend the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old is not available for purchase by Norwich; instead, the Championship team is paying a loan fee.

Doyle is said to have been pleased with the setup and the plans of head coach Johannes Thorup during his visit to the Canaries’ Colney training facility earlier this month.

Ben Knapper, the sports director of Norwich, is eager to reduce the average age of the team and gave priority to a left-back. The adaptable defender can play both center-back and left-back.

Doyle will now have to wait to find out if he makes Pep Guardiola’s final roster for City’s US tour, which includes games against Chelsea, Barcelona, AC Milan, Celtic, and AC Milan.

Josko Gvardiol, a Croatian player at Euro 2024, has few backup options for Guardiola, therefore Doyle might be kept on for the exhibition matches.

Doyle helped Coventry get to the 2023 play-off final, where they were defeated by Luton on penalties, and he won the Championship while on loan at Leicester the previous season.

He got promoted to the Championship with Sunderland the previous season after they won the League One play-offs.
