Plymouth Argyle ‘deeply saddened’ by the passing of Ben Rendle
Rendle was Argyle’s former head of finance and helped steer the club through the difficult times of administration in 2011
Owner and chairman of Plymouth Argyle Simon Hallett has expressed his sympathies to the friends and family of the late Ben Rendle, the longtime finance director of the team.
Rendle was among the employees at Home Park who toiled away without compensation in 2011 under the severe circumstances of the Pilgrims’ administration, which nearly caused the club to fail.
Hallett said in an Argyle statement today: “Ben was someone I got to know well during his time at the club and I was shocked to hear of his passing.
“This news is really heartbreaking for everyone. He was a young man with a young family and plenty of life still to live. I would like to personally offer his family and friends my sympathies.”
“Everyone at Plymouth Argyle is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former head of finance, Ben Rendle,” the statement from the club said.
“Rendle, a well-liked former employee of the football team, arrived in 2010 and spent more than ten years working in the finance department. He was a dedicated employee who worked for the club for a long time and was managed by multiple CEOs and managers.
