Bengals Starting Defensive Tackle BJ Hill Suffers Hamstring Injury Against Chiefs
Kansas City During the first half of the Bengals’ game against the Chiefs on Sunday, defensive tackle BJ Hill suffered a hamstring injury to his left.
Hill lingered on the sidelines for a while before making his way to the changing area. The Bengals are already without McKinnley Jackson and Kris Jenkins. Hill’s absence would be another significant blow to Lou Anarumo’s team.
Cincinnati, as they always seem to do, gave the defending Super Bowl champs everything they could handle. However, concerns have been raised about Taylor’s employment position and his likelihood of being kept on if his club misses the playoffs in 2024.
Taylor’s Job Is Secure, Even If The Bengals Miss the Playoffs
One of the biggest overreactions following the Week 2 slate of games is the question of whether Taylor’s job is on the line. Yes, it was among the team’s worst performances of the season to lose to the New England Patriots in Week 1.
But Taylor shouldn’t lose his job because of one horrible loss, especially considering that throughout his first few years there he has taken the team to unprecedented heights. The 41-year-old coach had a 9-8 record at the end of the previous campaign, starting nine games with Jake Browning as quarterback.
Not to mention that the NFC North was the toughest division last year, and the only one to have each of the four teams finish with a winning record, the first division to do so since 1935.
Even if they don’t, though, Taylor merits a further season after leading the team to their first Super Bowl trip in thirty-two years and repeated conference title game appearances.
