Craig Breslow Reveals ‘Strong Chance’ Red Sox Star Returns
As the Red Sox regular season draws to a close, the return of a star batter to the lineup could provide them a boost.
Following shoulder surgery, Trevor Story was put on the 60-day disabled list in April. Although it was anticipated that the All-Star shortstop would miss the remainder of the season, the 31-year-old made a hint last month that he might play this year. That optimism was reinforced by manager Alex Cora, and it appears that Story could make a comeback to aid Boston in their postseason aspirations.
“He continues to make a tonne of progress and just being around him in the clubhouse, there’s a different attitude that he’s taking every day,” Breslow stated on “The Greg Hill Show” on Thursday, according to WEEI. “He can’t wait to enter the field. Although Liam Hendriks is expected to return sooner, Trevor has a good possibility of playing for the Red Sox and supporting the team at some time.
Hendriks made his Triple-A Worcester debut last Sunday, but Story hasn’t made an appearance in a game this month. On the other hand, Red Sox fans may be able to witness Story start rehab assignments with the best prospects in Worcester due to the increasing optimism from Breslow and Cora.
