One of the strongest baseball teams in the world is expected to be the Cleveland Guardians going into the
second half of the 2024 MLB season. With a 58-37 record, they are beginning to gain the league’s
respect.
Even though they have been winning a lot this season, a lot of people have maintained that they will lose
ground. Needless to say, the Guardians have prevented that. They intend to remain.
Cleveland will have an opportunity to improve come July 30th, when the MLB trade deadline takes
place. The Guardians should concentrate on attempting to address a few needs.
The main priority Cleveland should have in the trade market has been made public by Bleacher Report.
A “playoff-caliber starting pitcher” acquisition, in their opinion, ought to be the team’s top goal.
“With Logan Allen and Triston McKenzie sent to the minors and Shane Bieber sidelined, the starting
rotation of the Guardians will surely be the center of attention for any trade deadline maneuvering.
Finding a starter they could rely on to take the ball in a playoff game would stabilize the patchwork staff,
despite this team’s reputation for being quiet during the summer trading window.”
In light of this, the Guardians have a couple extremely talented pitchers linked to them. Most notably,
Garrett Crochet, the standout pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, has been linked to them as a potential
trade target.
However, given that Cleveland and the White Sox are both in the AL Central division, a deal for Crochet
could not be feasible. Chicago probably would rather not assist their division rivals in improving.
There are, nevertheless, a good number of additional starters who would fit in well with the Guardians.
Cal Quantrill, Tyler Anderson, Erick Fedde, Andrew Heaney, and even Yesei Kikuchi are some of those
choices.
There are some interesting choices for starting pitchers even after those players. In essence, Cleveland
will be free to choose the player it wishes to sign.
In the upcoming week, there will be a ton of rumors circulating about the Guardians. As they attempt to
contend for a title, it is anticipated that they will be active on the trade market. Cleveland’s most pressing
need right now appears to be a starting pitcher.
