Kansas City Chiefs Add Pro Bowl Pass Rusher in Blockbuster Proposal
Between appearing to get into a heated exchange with management to publicly disputing a report that
the Patriots had offered him a new deal, Judon’s training camp has gotten off to an acrimonious start
Unless the Patriots figure out a long-term extension, Judon, who is scheduled to enter the final year of a
$56 million contract, will count $6.5 million against the limit this season. It should come as no surprise
that over the past few months, trade speculations about Judon have surfaced frequently.
Should the Patriots decide to let go of Judon, he might be the final piece needed for a Super Bowl
contender.
Could Kansas City Chiefs Trade for Matthew Judon?
The majority of the offseason was devoted to the Kansas City Chiefs and general manager Brett Veach
significantly enhancing Patrick Mahomes’ supporting cast.
This could be Mahomes’ most explosive weaponry to date in his career, since he added dependable
veteran wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to his roster and selected speedy former University of
Texas wideout Xavier Worthy in the first round of this year’s draft.
To win the Lombardi Trophy for a third straight season, the Chiefs might need to rely more on their
reliable pass rush and formidable defense.
Marcus Mosher, an NFL analyst, believes Judon would be a perfect fit to elevate Kansas City’s defense.
“Mahomes and the offense should benefit more this year from For The 33rd Team, Mosher writes, “be to
reinvest in the defense.” The Chiefs have purchased pass rushers with several first-round selections, but
none have the caliber of Judon. Judon may be persuaded by the Chiefs to win a championship and
receive a higher guaranteed salary than he is now receiving in New England. Although Kansas City
probably could not commit to a long-term agreement, adding one or two more years to his contract
appears likely.
“With Judon on board, the Chiefs’ lead over the other teams in the Super Bowl would grow even larger.
He would be the team’s greatest edge rusher right away, and he and Jones together would be a
formidable defensive line duo.
Judon has four Pro Bowl appearances and 66.5 career sacks going into the 2024 campaign. Judon would
have the opportunity to add a Super Bowl ring to his resume and be instrumental in Kansas City’s
attempt to make history if he were traded to the Chiefs.
