The 24-year-old started his professional career with Hartlepool United before being signed by Sunderland, the team from his birthplace.

He departed the Stadium of Light after two years without playing in the league to join Gateshead, where he has excelled.

It is true that Sunderland is among the teams expressing interest in Richardson, but they are not the only ones.

In addition, Oxford and the recently promoted Championship duo Derby, as well as Peterborough and Barnsley in League One and Notts County in League Two, are monitoring the situation.

Leaving Gateshead on a high note
