However, if Leeds’ bank account experiences a sudden influx of funds, the Championship team might be inclined to explore the possibility of a surprise acquisition, given that Clarke is reportedly valued at £15 million following an impressive individual season with the wobbly Black Cats last year.
That’s only £5 million more than Leeds received for the wide-eyed young player when they sold him to Tottenham Hotspur back in 2019. Leeds wanted to cash in on the player after an uneventful period in the senior squad during which he made just 28 appearances and contributed just four goals.
Considered “one of the best wingers in the division” by the Second Tier Podcast at the beginning of the previous season, he may prove to be the ideal successor to the magnificent Dutchman given his impressive performance throughout the second-tier campaign.
Why Clarke would be the ideal Summerville substitute
The erratic number ten for Leeds is going to be difficult to replace, and if he does decide to walk on, his absence will definitely be felt the next season.
