Breaking: Atlanta Braves are confident they might sign in the exceptional starting pitcher before the trade deadline…

It’s time to analyze what the Braves actually need as the trade deadline approaches.

The two areas where the club has been most vulnerable seem to be quite evident and should be fixed.

Despite Adam Duvall’s recent surge and Michael Harris II’s impending return to Atlanta, Alex

Anthopoulos needs to concentrate on the outfield.

There’s no excuse not to come away with many outfielders before the deadline because they are typically

inexpensive. In this manner, Brian Snitker may simply play the hot hand in the final stretch, much like

the team accomplished in 2021 on their way to winning a World Series.

This season, shortstop has been the team’s greatest vulnerability, but finding a replacement will be far

more difficult than an outfield player. For the most part of the season, Orlando Arcia has been

unplayable, especially lately. Regretfully, Anthopoulos might not be able to close a deal because of the

supply.

This trade deadline, those must be on AA’s to-do list as 1a and 1b, but the pitching staff also needs some

TLC. For the most part of the season, the bullpen has been outstanding and is full with quality. So much

so that there is now no room in Atlanta for Daysbel Hernandez and his 0.00 ERA over 9.2 innings,

where he is a member of Triple-A Gwinnett.

Naturally, the Braves might add another reliever due of their cheapness at the deadline, but this is by no

means an urgent requirement, and the rotation should be approached similarly.

As strong as any 1-2-3 in baseball, Max Fried, Chris Sale, and Reynaldo Lopez lead the way. A variety of

arms, including Charlie Morton, Spencer Schwellenbach, Bryce Elder, Ian Anderson, and AJ Smith-

Shawver, round out the rear of the rotation. Although most would think a starter at this point would be

overkill, Anthopoulos might still acquire one at the deadline for a number of reasons.
