Breaking: Derby County emerging as the front-runner to recruit the experience forwarder

In advance of their first season in the second tier in two years, this is when things start to get serious for supporters.

Meanwhile, Paul Warne and his hiring team are working hard to get his team ready for the tough task of staying up late. Birmingham City, who finished with 50 points, were relegated, demonstrating just how difficult it can be.

Warne wants to add players with talent at practically every position, so the Rams need to bring in the right players to stay above the dotted line.

I know will interest Josh" - Pundit reacts as clubs eye Sheffield Wednesday star Josh Windass

Attack is one area that is prioritized, and they have updated information on their pursuit of Josh Windass, a striker for Sheffield Wednesday.

Windass’s contract at Hillsborough is about to expire, and Derby was linked to a bid for him after they were promoted from League One.

Windass scored goals in Wednesday’s final three games against Blackburn Rovers, West Brom, and Sunderland to help maintain Wednesday in the Championship the previous season.

In order to keep him in S6, the 30-year-old was offered a new contract, and as was previously reported this month, Windass was close to reaching an agreement.

That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, though, as The Star stated that it is “increasingly unlikely” that he will stay at Wednesday for the upcoming season, which has put a number of clubs on notice.

West Brom ‘make contact’ for Josh Windass

Although it has been reported that Windass is still a target for ambitious League One team Birmingham City, it is their rivals West Brom who have’made contact’ with the players’ representation.

Although it hasn’t been said if Derby is still trying to get the Englishman, it will be clearer what happens to him if he leaves Sheffield

Wednesday.

Prior to West Brom’s arrival, Windass was connected to both Hull City and Coventry City, two teams vying for a spot in the play-offs.

While Hull, Coventry, and the Baggies want to build a play-off push, Derby will likely be fighting near the bottom next season.

Warne may find it more challenging to convince the former Rangers forward to relocate to Pride Park as a result, and although the Rams

may still be able to get him, their interest in him seems to have waned recently.
