Muhamed Tijani is a new signing for Argyle for the rest of the season.
Tijani, who turns 24 later this month, signs a loan from Slavia Prague, the runners-up in the premier division of the Czech Republic, to play for Argyle. As part of the agreement, Argyle has the option to purchase the player after his loan period expires.
At the age of 18, the former Nigerian under-20 international relocated to Czechia to enlist in the youth programme of Banik Ostrava, one of the top teams in the nation.
Muhammad spent time on loan at Třinec, Karvina, and Taborsko, where he scored 13 goals in 33 appearances during the 2021–2022 Czech Second League season.
In 2022–2023 Tijani made his Ostrava debut, appearing in 25 games as the squad placed 11th in the premier league.
In the summer of 2023, he transferred to Slavia Prague for about £1 million, where he played 19 games and scored four goals. Two of those goals were scored away to FC Sheriff in the UEFA Europa League, including a last-minute victory.
Muhamed coming significantly improves our attacking line and he will add different attributes to the group’, Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney stated.
“Despite his size and athleticism, he is just as adept at holding the ball up and drawing teammates into the game.
“He has a solid background and has competed and scored in the Europa League, but he is still young and eager to go better. We are very excited to collaborate with him.
Neil Dewsnip, the director of football at Argyle, said, “We’re thrilled that Muhammad could join the team.
“Several Europa League teams were eager to sign him because of his high demand, but Muhammad truly committed to the Argyle concept and was eager to play for Wayne.
We are quite enthusiastic about him because he adds a distinct profile to our forward line and still has a tonne of growth potential.
“We are all excited to get started, and it is great to have another signing completed before the preseason starts.”
International clearance and EFL approval are pending. Jobel Ltd. is the sponsor of Muhammad.
