With a little more foresight, the Kansas City Chiefs might have been in a better position at wide receiver.
This past weekend, wide receiver Adam Thielen of the Carolina Panthers participated in the American
Century Championship, a yearly celebrity golf competition held in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. During the
event, Thielen paused to speak briefly with reporters from the Kansas City-based production company
Starcade Media. When asked about the Panthers’ upcoming season-opening game against the Chiefs,
Thielen disclosed that, although there wasn’t a mutual desire, he wanted to join with the Chiefs in the
offseason.
The Chiefs’ Thielen stated, “I was trying to go there, and they didn’t want me.” “Well, I’ll just try to
present my capabilities to them.”
The 33-year-old Thielen, a two-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, signed with Carolina instead,
where he excelled on a personal level the previous season. Thielen started all 17 games and finished with
103 catches for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns despite rookie quarterback Bryce Young’s unsteady
play.
Regarding the Chiefs, who undoubtedly prevailed in the Super Bowl the previous year even without
Thielen. However, in light of Rashee Rice’s legal issues (for which a suspension may be imposed),
Kadarius Toney’s lack of consistency, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s transfer to Buffalo, their wide
receiver situation is now highly dubious. Even if Kansas City signed a previous 1,000-yard receiver in
free agency and selected wide out Xavier Worthy in the first round, they still need to be asking They
