The Los Angeles Rams signed offensive lineman Jonah Jackson to a three-year, $51 million contract, which was one of their more significant
offseason acquisitions. It was a bit of a surprise when Jackson signed with the Rams because he was one of the best available free agents.
It was clear that Los Angeles needed more strength up front because they had adopted a more physical approach to the game. Jackson may be crucial
to the Rams’ success this season, as they feel he can assist with this need.
Rams Wire’s Cameron DaSilva explained why Jackson is so crucial to the Rams’ season-long success.
“Jackson is already considered one of the Rams’ most vital players as he begins his first campaign. Jackson will play a major role in Los Angeles’s goal
to be a physical, ground-and-pound offense and will greatly assist the inside of the offensive line.”
This past season, Jackson started 12 games for the Detroit Lions and gave up just two sacks. For the season, he got a pass-blocking grade of 60-7 and
a run-blocking grade of 60.3.
He will aim to create space for the running backs, which will make him the focal point of the Rams’ game plan. Given that All-Pro defensive lineman
Aaron Donald retired this offseason, Los Angeles’ ability to succeed offensively will relieve some of the strain on the defense.
