The dependable reporter was responding to rumours from Telegraaf [2 July] that the French powerhouses are interested in signing the 22-year-old winger following his outstanding 2023–24 Championship season by writing on his Daily Briefing (4 July).

However, Romano claims that there was no ongoing communication between the teams or Summerville’s representatives, and that the only reason for the brief negotiations was that he had an agent who also happens to be a player PSG wants to recruit.

He wrote, “From what I understand, Summerville and Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida share the same agents.”

Summerville was brought up during PSG’s personal meetings with Geertruida, but no negotiations between the clubs or the player’s representatives are currently taking place.

Brighton is in the open race, and other clubs are interested.

Leeds United is still anticipating Crysencio Summerville’s departure.

Leeds is in a lot better position with regard to the remaining players this summer after the devastating sale of Archie Grey to Tottenham.

Although it’s expected that Leeds won’t obstruct Summerville’s path [Ben Jacobs, 24 June], if they receive a good offer to let him go, things may have altered since then.

Romano earlier said that the Whites sought to let the Dutch star go for between £35 and £40 million, but given their improved financial position, that amount may now be a little higher.

After spending £33 million on Yankuba Minteh, Brighton may be eliminated from the competition, but other teams are undoubtedly still interested.

Though it’s obvious that PSG won’t be the team to go, Summerville appears more likely to remain in England, whether or not he plays at Elland Road.
