Scans reveal extent of injury for Dylan Edwards

Dylan Edwards injury updates: Diagnosis, return date as Penrith Panthers fullback injures knee in Origin decider | Sporting News Australia

Dylan Edwards, a fullback for the Penrith Panthers and the New South Wales Blues State of Origin, has apparently escaped suffering any major injuries to his knee.

In his second game in the arena, the Origin finale on Wednesday night, Edwards was observed with a brace on his knee. Despite this, he put up a valiant display in a rough match against the Maroons, which the Blues won 14 points to 4.

After the game, it was discovered that Edwards, who covered about 250 meters, had played the second half despite a PCL injury.
Although there were initial concerns following the game that Edwards might miss up to six weeks if the injury was severe, the AAP is now stating that scans have revealed only a PCL sprain, meaning the fullback could be back in action for the three-time defending champions in about two or three weeks.

The announcement is a huge plus for the Panthers, since Edwards has been playing fantastically all 2024 season.

After being a star of the show for the previous three seasons, the fullback has elevated his game this season in Ivan Cleary’s setup.

In addition, Nathan Cleary, who hasn’t played since before the State of Origin series due to a hamstring injury, will be back on the field for the Panthers on Sunday afternoon as they aim for a fourth straight premiership and a fifth straight grand final. The Panthers are comfortably positioned in the top four.

The star halfback missed the entire Origin series due to the injury, which hindered him during the first half of the season. he has only managed five games so far this season.
