Reading FC defenders called up for national team duty

The 22-year-old Dorsett, who played nearly 30 games for the Royals last season after coming up through the minor levels, has established himself as a mainstay for the Caribbean country this year.

He is a versatile player who can play full back or central defense, and tonight he will try to play in their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Nicaragua.

Lyle Taylor, an EFL regular who represented Cambridge United against the Royals this season, is also included in the island team.

In a similar vein, Bindon, 19, had a breakthrough campaign following his departure from LAFC.

In his rookie season as a professional, the adolescent made over 40 appearances and placed among the top three in the Player of the Season voting.

The OFC Nations Cup matches will see the central defender try to add to his six caps thus far.

The All Whites are the reigning champions going into the competition, having won the trophy in 2016 and having the 2020 edition postponed because of COVID-19.

Ten members of the squad, including Bindon, are eligible to compete in the July 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
