The attacking midfielder, who scored 10 goals in 36 appearances last season, is apparently wanting to go up to the top division and is available on a free transfer after his contract at the West Midlands Club expired.

The Saints will be able to provide O’Hare the Premier League football he desires for the upcoming season after defeating Leeds in the Championship play-off final on Sunday afternoon at Wembley thanks to a goal from Adam Armstrong.

Southampton Show Interest in O’Hare

O’Hare made an impression for Coventry last season, starting eighteen Championship games barely a year after missing nine months due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. A number of teams have expressed interest in him due to his versatility—he can play in the attacking line or as part of a midfield three—creative progressive passing, and deft ball movement. Sky Blues manager Mark Robins has dubbed him “incredible.”

Tom Collomosse of the Mail stated back in January that Burnley was monitoring the player, and that Southampton and Leicester, two teams vying for promotion, were also keeping an eye on him. Now, it seems the Saints are trying to follow through on this desire and use O’Hare’s contract status as leverage to sign him as a free agent O’Hare made an impression for Coventry last season, starting eighteen Championship games barely a year after missing nine months due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Based on his current contract status, it seems the Saints want to take advantage of O’Hare’s interest and sign him as a free agent in the upcoming weeks.

Even if Martin has an abundance of midfield and forward alternatives at his disposal, it wouldn’t hurt to have another top player to handle the Premier League’s higher expectations, especially because fellow playmaker Stuart Armstrong may depart the team when his contract expires next month.
