Colts reportedly sign second-round WR Adonai Mitchell to rookie deal
Adonai Mitchell, a second-round pick, has allegedly signed a rookie contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
Now that Mitchell’s deal is complete, the Colts have contracts with all nine of their draft choices.
Aaron Wilson claims that Mitchell will make $7.386 million over the course of a typical four-year rookie
contract, with 65.22 percent of the money guaranteed. A signing bonus of $2.191 million is also included
in the contract.
It will be Mitchell’s responsibility to give the Colts that extra playmaking wide receiver capability. In
addition to offering a vertical presence, Mitchell’s 4.34 speed allows him to win downfield, which opens
up opportunities for other pass-catchers on underneath routes and over the middle.
Having said that, Mitchell is far more than a serious danger. He can win in many different ways and in
every area of the field because to his route-running skills. Mitchell gives the offense real potential as a
No. 1 receiver.
“Explosive,” Mitchell’s Shane Steichen remarked. “The scale is visible. The speed is evident—excellent
hands. Observing him during one-on-one drills with Reggie Wayne, even down to the way he plucks the
ball.
“He is an instinctive pass catcher. He can split up again at the top [of routes], as we discussed after the
draft. Here in seven-on-seven, he ran several good routes. It was encouraging to witness that he had
some one-on-one winners.
Because Mitchell has participated in the College Football Playoffs all three seasons, catching 19 catches
at around 16.0 yards per catch and six touchdowns in those games, Colts area scout Anthony Coughlan
would state that Mitchell possesses the “clutch gene.”
Mitchell appears to make a play or two every practice, demonstrating his potential during OTAs and
minicamp.
“His explosiveness in winning one-on-ones and coming off the ball,” Steichen remarked following
practice. He is been playing here for the past number of years, therefore
days. He will add something to our offense about which we are quite enthusiastic.
