Days after signing a three-year contract to become manager of Plymouth Argyle, Wayne Rooney is pressing for his first significant decision.

The 38-year-old, who took over at Home Park in April after Ian Foster was fired, will be looking to recover from his appalling 83-day tenure as Birmingham City’s manager.

The former Manchester United striker said that the Devon-based team is “on an exciting long-term journey” and that he is already starting to work in preparation for the 2024–2025 season.

Reporter Alan Nixon claims on his Patreon that following Mike Cooper’s 24-year-old goalkeeping being linked to a move away, Rooney is eager to speak with their highly regarded goalie.

Cooper, who has sustained several regrettable injuries throughout the

the previous year, is still an essential part of the Plymouth team.

After recuperating from a cruciate knee ligament injury, he rejoined the first team in March and was instrumental in the Pilgrims’ quest to avoid relegation.

The goalie, who made his debut in 2017 against Blackburn Rovers, has made 170 appearances for his childhood club in all competitions.

Football League World reports that Championship clubs may be showing’significant interest’ in Cooper, who is obviously a huge fan of Rooney’s.

This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting project. I look forward to helping to build a squad of players to play expansive football and to entertain the Green Army.”
