The Colts signed two players following the conclusion of their 2024 minicamp

The Indianapolis Colts made several roster changes as their required minicamp came to an end.

The organization declared that S Daniel Scott was placed on injured reserve and that C Jack Anderson had been waived. Rookies CB Clay Fields III and WR Derek Slywka took their places.

Clay Fields III, CB, Chattanooga

Clay Fields III

Earlier in the spring, Fields III participated in the Colts’ 2024 rookie and veteran minicamps. Before switching to Chattanooga for the 2023 season, he started his collegiate career in 2018 at Marist and played there for two years.

He recorded five interceptions and was awarded an All American at Marist in 2021 as a safety. and was selected for the 2021 and 2022 First Team All-PFL. He finished the previous season at Chattanooga with 39 total tackles and one interception.

Now that he’s joined the Colts, he can play both corner and safety. Both of which are anticipated to have several roster places available, and the team is getting ready for intense competition at both positions.

Slywka attended the San Francisco 49ers’ rookie minicamp this summer, but he also participated in the Colts’ veteran minicamp on a tryout basis. Although Slywka played as a safety with the 49ers and as a defensive back in college, the Colts have him labeled as a wide receiver.

At 6’3 and 215 pounds last season, he was rated as a wide receiver with good size. In college, he was a skilled ball-handler who finished with 119 total tackles, 11 interceptions, 30 pass deflections, and four blocked field goals. The Colts will now try to use that ability at wide receiver. It’s probably his special teamer skills that have them most interested in him.
