Mooseheads finally Inked an incredible significant deal trading two premiere players to the Wildcats.

Two Halifax Mooseheads veterans are heading to Moncton.

Forward Markus Vidicek and defenceman Dylan MacKinnon have been traded to the Wildcats, the Mooseheads announced on Thursday shortly after the QMJHL trade window opened.

MacKinnon, who is from the Moncton area, was traded in exchange for Halifax’s own 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2026.

Forward Shawn Carrier, the sixth overall pick in the 2023 QMJHL draft, is heading to Halifax in exchange for Vidicek and two third-round picks.

Vidicek played four seasons for the Mooseheads and is expected to be one of the top over-agers in the league next season.

MacKinnon spent three years in Halifax and was a third-round pick of the Nashville Predators in the 2023 NHL entry draft.

The 2024 QMJHL entry draft begins on Friday night in Moncton. Halifax doesn’t have a selection until the third round.
