Following an injury to his foot during an at-bat in the seventh inning of Wednesday’s Cubs vs. White Sox Crosstown Classic, Cubs utility man Christopher Morel left the game.

Morel narrowed his shin/foot guard, missing protection for the top of his foot, when he struck a foul ball off the ball of his foot during a fight with Jared Shuster. Despite his injuries, Morel recovered to earn a walk on a full count.

However, Craig Counsell came out of the dugout and quickly removed him from the game as he attempted to walk to first base. Patrick Wisdom took Morel’s place.

Nico Hoerner, who was dismissed earlier in the game, is also not with the Cubs.

With just one hit and one run scored, Morel left the game. On Tuesday, Morel had two RBIs from two singles and one home run against the White Sox. He personally scored two runs as well.
