first overall choice With the rookie class of the Chicago Bears scheduled to report to training camp on Tuesday, Caleb Williams has not yet signed his first NFL contract.
During an event for his Caleb Cares Foundation over the weekend in South Chicago, the quarterback told reporters he’s not worried about a deal closing.
According to Williams, “I’m not handling that,” the Chicago Tribune reported. “That’s being handled by my solicitors, my head of the Bears, and everyone else up there.” I’m not in charge of that position.”
Williams does not have an agent licenced by the NFL Players Association.
There aren’t many bargaining points with the NFL’s slotted rookie contracts; the signing bonus payment schedules and possible offsets are the most notable ones.
In preparation for their participation in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on August 1st against the Houston Texans, the rookie class of Chicago reports for training camp on Tuesday.
“You start getting to the end of the break and you’re training and you’re ready to go,” Williams stated. “Very enthusiastic. I’m thrilled to start this again and to be back in Chicago. About three weeks remain till the exhibition opens.
Rome Odunze, the No. 9 pick and wide receiver with Williams’ rookie class, is still unsigned.
